No Montour County 72-Hour Release Feed
The official Montour County Prison page has no rolling three-day release view, roster search, booking archive, or downloadable release report. The Montour County Sheriff site likewise publishes no 72-hour jail-release filter. A search result from an unofficial directory is not evidence that the county operates such a list.
The absence matters because there is no public cadence, online retention period, photo field, or refresh lag to describe. Readers should not expect a page to repopulate after a holiday or assume a name remains visible for three days. The correct local substitute is an existing release log or equivalent prison record limited to a fixed 72-hour span.
Check Montour County's Three-Day Releases
Start after the full interval has ended. Record both endpoints in Eastern Time, then use each channel for the question it can answer. A three-day list request seeks a set of county records, while a phone call, VINELink search, or docket search checks one named person.
- Choose an exact start timestamp and an exact end timestamp 72 hours later. State Eastern Time in the request.
- Call Montour County Prison at 570-271-3039 for a named-person custody check and ask whether a departure was release or transfer if staff can disclose it.
- Use PA SAVIN through VINELink to look for a custody event tied to the named person and reporting custodian.
- Search the UJS criminal docket with Montour County selected and read bail, disposition, sentencing, and chronological entries.
- Send the completed 72-hour request to the County Open Records Officer for the existing release log or equivalent records.
For activity confined to one completed day, the Montour County 24-hour release guide gives the narrower request method. Do not simply relabel a three-day span as "today."
Fields for a Montour 72-Hour Record
No public Montour feed displays a standard set of columns. The table below identifies fields that may be requested if they already exist and are public. It does not promise that the county keeps them in one report or will disclose every item.
| Requested field | Why it matters across three days |
|---|---|
| Name and recorded aliases | Helps identify the adult tied to the closed custody episode. |
| Booking or control number | Separates repeated stays and people with similar names. |
| Booking date and time | Connects the release entry to its intake event. |
| Release date and time | Places the event within the exact 72-hour boundary. |
| Release category or code | Distinguishes bond, court order, sentence completion, transfer, and other recorded outcomes. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Shows whether custody continued outside Montour County Prison. |
| Court and docket number | Links the jail event to the judicial file that may explain it. |
| As-of or export timestamp | Reveals when the three-day extract was created and whether late entry is possible. |
Ask for an existing code key when abbreviations are not clear. A release time without its category can be misleading because it says only that Montour custody ended. Protected medical, victim, juvenile, security, address, and identifying data may be redacted.
Montour Weekend Release Boundaries
A 72-hour span is useful when the event may have happened over a weekend or when a researcher cannot check each day. Yet "the last three days" is ambiguous. It might mean three calendar dates, the previous 72 clock hours, or a Friday-to-Monday interval longer than 72 hours. Daylight-saving changes can also make a local-time period differ from an assumed count of hours.
Write the start and end with dates, clock times, and Eastern Time. If the goal is a weekend, define the real weekend boundary rather than forcing it into a 72-hour label. If Monday activity matters too, extend the request deliberately and say so. This is more accurate than relying on an unknown rolling cutoff.
Montour County publishes no fixed release hour, weekend practice, exit point, or rule promising early release when a date falls on a weekend or holiday. The prison's Monday through Friday public business hours are office-access hours, not custody-release processing hours. Call the prison instead of inferring a schedule.
Request Montour County Release Records
The county's Open Records Request Information page provides an online submission route and the standard form. Requests may also be emailed to righttoknow@montourcounty.gov, faxed to 570-271-3088, or mailed to the Montour County Administration Center, 435 East Front Street, Danville, PA 17821. Identify the prison or its Records Officer as the department likely to hold custody records.
Use wording such as: "Please provide the existing release log or equivalent record for adult custody episodes closed at Montour County Prison between the exact start timestamp stated below and the exact end timestamp stated below, Eastern Time, including release date and time and release type or destination fields insofar as maintained and public. Please include any existing code key and as-of timestamp. Electronic delivery is preferred. Exempt information may be redacted." Add the fixed endpoints beneath that text.
The Right-to-Know Law does not require the county to create a new spreadsheet or answer why each event happened if no such record exists. Court-file documents should go to the Montour Clerk of Courts under judicial access rules, not through the county executive request path. The docket and prison release record remain distinct.
Read Montour Release Types Carefully
A county release record should answer who, which custody episode, when, why or how, and where next. A community release may follow bail, a court order, sentence expiration, county parole, or a probationary disposition. Transfer to PA DOC, another county, federal custody, or another detaining authority is not community release even though the local jail record closes.
VINELink event language helps but must be read literally. A release alert concerns departure from the reporting institution. A movement or transfer alert means custody changed place. If the person appears at a PA DOC institution after leaving Montour, the state locator supports continued state custody. A Department Supervised Individual result can show a past state Release Date and current parole location, but it does not supply the county jail's release timestamp.
Cross-Check Montour Release Dockets
UJS Public Web Docket Sheets can preserve the legal event that caused release. Search by participant name, select Montour County, open the correct criminal docket, and review bail, disposition, sentencing, and chronological entries. A bail modification, dismissal, time-served sentence, or release order may explain why custody ended.
The docket cannot replace the prison record. "Case closed" is a court status, not proof of the moment the person crossed the prison threshold. An order granting bail does not prove that all bond requirements were met or that processing finished inside the 72-hour span. For a full records workflow tied to one person, use the Montour County release search and records guide.
Montour shares the 26th Judicial District with Columbia County, but the two counties' custody records do not merge. Filter the UJS search to Montour and use the Montour Clerk for authoritative case documents. A Columbia jail event should not be counted as a Montour County Prison release merely because the courts share a district.
Montour Release Cadence and Retention Limits
No official release page means there is no public update schedule to test and no online post-release visibility period to measure. Underlying prison records can remain with the county under its retention duties even when nothing is searchable on the web. Online visibility and agency record retention are separate questions.
Ask the custodian for the record's as-of timestamp so an export made after the weekend is not presented as live data. If an event was entered late, the release time can still fall inside the requested 72-hour period even though the record appeared later. That is another reason to anchor the request to event time rather than webpage publication time.
The county form allows printed or electronic copies, inspection, and certified copies, plus advance notice above a selected cost threshold. Request only what is needed and prefer a bounded electronic record. Narrow scope makes the interval clear and avoids asking the agency to build a new "three-day list" that it does not maintain.
